Overview

The Laboratory of Sleep and Synaptic Plasticity (PI: Sha Liu) at the VIB-KU Leuven Center for Brain & Disease Research is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to join our group.  Our lab employs multi-disciplinary approaches, including Drosophila genetics, quantitative behavior analysis, electrophysiology, in vivo functional imaging, and neural circuit mapping and manipulation, to study the basic mechanisms underlying sleep and its function in the brain at synaptic and circuit levels.

Your Profile

Required

  • Recent Ph.D. (or expected Ph.D.) from a background in at least one of the disciplines of Neurobiology (physiology, development, computational, or engineering). Previous experience with Drosophila Neurobiology is not required.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.

Appreciated but not required

  • Demonstrated experience with neural cell reconstruction, tracing, and analysis from volumetric EM images or whole-brain fluorescence images.
  • Solid experience with in vivo electrophysiology or in vivo multi-photon imaging.
