About the institute and research infrastructure

VIB is widely recognized as an established and world-leading knowledge center in life sciences and biotechnology with an excellent reputation in technology transfer. The unique combination of strategic basic research and a clear focus on innovation & business is one of the major contributors to its success. VIB is highly committed to being the driving force behind the growth of the dynamic life sciences cluster in Flanders.

At VIB, it's our mission to conduct pioneering research in life sciences to understand the mechanisms of life and translate our research findings into products and solutions that benefit society. We believe that breakthrough research in the molecular mechanisms of life will lead to a better quality of life, economic growth, and sustainable societal well-being.

Within the VIB, the BioImaging Core Leuven supports imaging across scales from the nanometer level to the mesoscale. The core is hosted by the VIB-KU Leuven Center for Brain and Disease Research, and its mission is to facilitate science and provide access to know-how and measurement time on state-of-the-art microscopes. The BioImaging Core Leuven, together with the BioImaging Core in Ghent, offers numerous imaging solutions, including confocal microscopes, 3D whole-organ imaging, super-resolution, and electron microscopy, as well as support with image analysis both with infrastructure and expertise.

In the context of a recently awarded international infrastructure program grant and to facilitate access and service for internal and external visitors in the context of Flanders and Euro-BioImaging, we are looking for a person to establish correlative workflows connecting super-resolution and electron microscopy. Specifically, we want to focus on correlating protein assemblies /aggregates with morphological domains in organelles and tissues.
